Fair Cape Dairies’ farmer, Johannes Loubser, has again been recognised as National Master Dairyman of the Year 2020 at the Agricultural Research Council’s annual National Dairy Performers Awards.
This is the fourth time that Johannes has been recognised as National Master Dairyman of the Year, an achievement that no other dairyman in South Africa has accomplished.
The competition celebrates South Africa’s top commercial and smallholder achievers in the industry and is hosted annually by Agri-Expo on behalf of the National Dairy Recording and Improvement Scheme of the Agricultural Research Council (ARC).
Dr Jakkie du Toit, research team manager for dairy cattle improvement at the Agricultural Research Council conveyed hearty congratulations to Johannes and the team. “You are truly a Master Dairyman. Thank you for your tremendous input and contribution to the dairy industry in South Africa,” he says.
Louis Loubser, marketing director of Fair Cape Dairies, says that the company is very proud to have again been recognised for Johannes’ exceptional management of the superior herd under his care. “Animal welfare is one of the three pillars on which the Fair Cape brand is built. The well-being of our cows is our top priority and we go to great lengths to ensure their comfort. This, in turn, contributes to their outstanding production, fertility and longevity, for which Johannes’ management was recognised with this award. However, the welfare of our cows means more to us than mere business practice, we also truly believe it’s the right thing to do.”
