Event Highlights include
Tuesday 18th: One of the key events of the opening day, which emphasizes livestock farming, will be a keynote address by Johannesburg-born Brett StClair. StClair has extensive experience in AI and digital technology in the United Kingdom and has worked in 32 countries. He advocates for progress in agriculture through innovative opportunities aimed at improving efficiency.
Carlos Vitor Müller, Agricultural Attache at the Brazilian Embassy, will discuss biosafety and its significance for Brazil’s access to global markets, relevant to South African farmers. Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, founder of Gift of the Givers, will emphasize food security in South Africa with his topic “Food Security for Social Justice.” The first day will feature eight keynote speakers covering subjects like precision livestock farming, genetics, and animal health, ensuring something of interest for every attendee.
Wednesday 19th: Focused on plant agriculture, Martin Jansen, Chief Information Officer of ZZ2 and Managing Director of Think Ninjas, will be the first speaker. He stated, “We don’t invest in technology for the sake of it – we invest because it works.”
The speakers on Day 2 will present insights into how technology can improve crop sustainability, increase productivity, and drive innovation, based on practical experience.
Pieter Geldenhuys, Director of the Institute for Technology Strategy and Innovation, will discuss his talk titled “Beyond the Algorithm.” He will explain how digital tools are practical solutions that assist farmers in making better decisions, not just reserved for high-end laboratories.
Thursday 20th : The focus on the third day will be about the intersection of business and agtech to drive industry growth into the future. One of the speakers sure to make a big impact on the delegates on Day 3 will be Prof. Nick Binedell, the founder of GIBS Business School, who has titled his talk “SA in focus: Predicting the Unpredictable
