A Leading Platform for Agricultural Transformation
The Africa Food Systems Forum is widely regarded as one of the leading platforms for agricultural transformation in Africa. It brings together governments, private sector players, farmers, researchers and development organisations to collaborate on strengthening food systems.
Since its inception, the forum has hosted:
- 15 summits
- More than 54,000 delegates
- Participants from 104 countries
- Over 35 research publications supporting agricultural policy and innovation
Origins of the Forum
The forum traces its roots to 2006, when Yara International organised the first African Green Revolution Conference in Oslo, Norway.
Between 2010 and 2021, the event evolved into the Africa Green Revolution Forum, hosted annually across different African countries.
In 2022, it was rebranded as the Africa Food Systems Forum to reflect a broader focus on the entire food value chain—from production and processing to distribution and consumption.
Addressing Africa’s Food System Challenges
The AFS Forum 2026 Summit will focus on tackling key challenges facing Africa’s food systems, including climate change, population growth, supply chain disruptions and limited access to finance for farmers and agribusinesses.
Through collaboration and knowledge sharing, the forum aims to accelerate progress toward sustainable, resilient and inclusive food systems that support economic growth and improve livelihoods across Africa.
