Zambia’s Agricultural Potential Opens New Trade Opportunities with Ghana, Says Goshers

A Ghanaian content creator, Goshers, has highlighted growing trade and agricultural opportunities between Zambia and Ghana, describing the potential for collaboration as significant if properly developed.
Speaking during an interview on Joy Prime, Goshers pointed to Zambia’s vast arable land and relatively underutilised agricultural capacity as a major opportunity for expansion. He contrasted this with Ghana’s continued reliance on imported food products, particularly poultry, which places pressure on foreign exchange and local production systems.
According to him, Zambia’s strong domestic poultry production and broader agricultural base position the country as a potential supplier of food products to Ghana and other African markets. He noted that Zambia’s ability to meet its own demand for chicken could, in the future, translate into export opportunities for surplus production.
Goshers emphasised that strengthening trade links between the two countries could support greater intra-African trade, helping to reduce dependence on imports from outside the continent while boosting local value chains and food security.
He also highlighted a growing trend of Ghanaians travelling to Zambia, describing it as a positive step toward building stronger economic ties. Increased travel, he noted, could promote knowledge exchange, tourism growth and business partnerships, particularly in agriculture and agribusiness.
The comments reflect a broader narrative around Africa’s untapped agricultural potential and the role of regional trade in unlocking new economic opportunities across the continent.
