Situated in the fertile heart of Achalla, a tranquil town in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, OKANUMEE AGRO FARMS is quietly revolutionizing agriculture in Southeastern Nigeria. This dynamic enterprise is reshaping the future of farming through sustainable practices and integrated systems that prioritize efficiency, community, and long-term impact.
Established with the goal of tapping into the region’s rich agricultural potential, OKANUMEE AGRO FARMS has become a beacon of innovation. The farm boasts a diverse range of operations—from palm fruit plantations and cassava fields to livestock and aquaculture—all working together in a carefully balanced ecosystem.
The visionary behind the farm is Mr. Charles Okadigbo, an Economics graduate from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. A passionate farmer and former Senior Special Assistant to Governor Willie Obiano, Mr. Okadigbo was inspired by his parents, both successful farmers who raised him through the fruits of their labor.
What distinguishes OKANUMEE is its integrated farming model, which combines crop cultivation, animal husbandry, and aquaculture in a way that maximizes productivity and minimizes waste. Key components of the farm include:
• Palm Fruit Cultivation – A major source of palm oil, supporting local processing and distribution.
• Cassava Farming – Converted into garri, fufu, and starch, serving both subsistence and commercial needs.
• Rice Production – Marketed under the brand name Vintage Rice, contributing to regional food security.
• Banana Plantations – Supplying fresh produce and processed goods.
• Fish Farming – Featuring catfish and tilapia to meet growing protein demands.
• Piggery – Modern facilities ensure healthy livestock and consistent meat supply.
• Poultry – Chickens and turkeys provide eggs and meat to local markets.
Beyond its agricultural output, OKANUMEE AGRO FARMS plays a vital role in community development. It provides employment, trains aspiring young farmers, and strengthens local economies through its supply chains and outreach efforts.
“We’re not just growing crops and animals,” says Mr. Okadigbo. “We’re cultivating a future—one that is dignified, profitable, and sustainable.”
Despite facing challenges such as unreliable electricity, poor road infrastructure, and high input costs, the farm continues to thrive. Through smart farming techniques like organic fertilization, intercropping, and efficient water management, OKANUMEE is steadily improving its yields and expanding its reach.
With plans to venture into agro-processing and large-scale distribution, the farm is poised to become a cornerstone of Anambra State’s agricultural transformation. Its mission is clear: to build a self-sustaining ecosystem that promotes food production, job creation, and economic empowerment.
As Nigeria seeks solutions to food insecurity and youth unemployment, OKANUMEE AGRO FARMS offers a compelling model—where the land not only feeds the people but also fuels progress and inspires future generations.
