After a two-year absence, the Eston Show is back! This year, it is taking place at the Beaumont Eston Farmers Club on Saturday and Sunday, 10 to 11 September 2022.
Celebrating its 68th year, the Eston Show is one of the oldest agricultural shows in KwaZulu-Natal, and a show for everyone – family and farmers alike. The weekend is jam-packed with things for everyone to enjoy. Kicking off on Friday evening at 18:00, the show will officially open with a fascinating session with renowned storyteller, Rob Caskie, who will delve into what is considered one of the greatest survival and leadership stories of all time: the thrilling tale of Sir Ernest Shackleton and his polar exploration on the ship, Endurance.
Key events to look out for are the Roof of Eston Off-road Motorcycle Race; the Eston Show Family Fashion Show on Saturday; the KZN Trail Run through Tala Game Reserve, Fireflies Horseback Outride on Sunday and a tug-of-war competition. And don’t’ forget about the floral and photography exhibitions!
Throughout the weekend there will also be helicopter flips, skydivers, various demo’s and a kiddies’ play zone, a showcase by many local artisans and creators, delicious food and drinks and great tunes. There’s even an option to camp out for the weekend, which is always great fun for the kids.
Eston Show Chairlady, Jenna Higgs, says that the organisers are delighted that the show is back after two challenging years, as it has always been a highlight on the KZN calendar. ‘Not only is the show a place where families can come for the weekend and enjoy what’s on offer, but it is a vital fundraising platform for the various stakeholders in our district, one on which they rely heavily. Our sincere thanks to Nedbank for once again being our sponsor, and for going above and beyond to become an integral part of the show over the years.’
Stuart Duggan, Nedbank’s Regional Agricultural Manager for KwaZulu-Natal, says that Nedbank is proud to once again partner with the Beaumont Eston Farmers’ Association in sponsoring the show. ‘The show – which we have sponsored for more than a decade – provides us with a fantastic opportunity not only to interact with farmers on a personal level, but also to demonstrate our commitment to the wider agricultural community in KwaZulu-Natal.’
‘Agriculture’s contribution to the economy cannot be underestimated and Nedbank recognises the need to play a meaningful role in this sector. By using our financial expertise to do good, we are looking to contribute to a growing, competitive, transformed and climate-resilient agricultural sector, which ultimately contributes positively to businesses, individuals and society,’ says Duggan.
So diarise these dates and visit The Eston Show for a weekend of great family friendly outdoor fun. Entrance is R40 for adults, R20 for kids from 12 years old and free for those younger than 12. All participants in the off-road motorbike race, trail run and horse ride get complimentary entry into the show.
