Farmers who embrace technology today will outpace those who resist change, according to The Rebel Technologist, Brett StClair, one of the keynote speakers at this year’s Africa Agri Tech (AAT) Conference and Expo, who will steer farmers towards a technologically driven, sustainable future.
Taking place from 18 – 20 March at the CSIR Convention Centre in Pretoria, AAT is a must-attend event for farmers looking to boost efficiency, sustainability, and profitability. Day 1 will focus on Animal AgTech, showcasing the technologies that will help livestock farmers beat the cost-price squeeze and survive ever-decreasing margins in the livestock industry.
The conference line-up includes international speakers who are at the forefront of the technological revolution. Hailing from the United Kingdom, StClair is a ‘rebel technologist’ who fights for progress. “In agriculture, that means unlocking new opportunities to work smarter, not harder.”
Why Attend?
In a world where farmers are facing rising input costs, market pressures, and climate-related challenges, they can’t afford to get left behind in the technological revolution.
“Africa Agri Tech provides workable solutions by showcasing the latest innovations in precision livestock farming, genetics, and animal health,” says Anlie Hattingh, AAT’s spokesperson.
The event will sort through the host of technology on offer, cutting through the noise and helping farmers find the technology that will make the biggest impact to their bottom line.
“We will show how precision livestock farming and data-driven herd management, for example, can increase conception and weaning rates. Then there are sustainable farming techniques that can lower costs and open new market opportunities through improved traceability and compliance. Day 1 will also offer insight into the latest advances in vaccines, biosecurity, and herd health management to minimise disease risks and reduce losses,” says Hattingh.
AAT will draw on South Africa’s livestock experts to bring locally adapted solutions. Prof James Blignaut, from ASSET Research, Stellenbosch University and the South African Environmental Observation Network, will show how ruminant production can be shifted from a carbon-intensive industry to a carbon sink. Says Blignaut, “Livestock farming doesn’t have to be a carbon burden – it can be part of the climate solution.”
Tom Westphal, Executive Director of the South African Meat Industry Company, and Basson Engelbrecht, CEO of Reisiger Ventures, will discuss the digital revolution that will ensure future-ready meat.
Westphal explains digital innovation enhances traceability, improves food safety, and opens new market opportunities for farmers. “By applying this technology, farmers can achieve greater competitiveness and meet the evolving demands of consumers and global markets.”
Hattingh emphasises that AAT is not only a technology showcase, but a chance for farmers to take home practical solutions they can implement immediately. “Whether you’re a livestock farmer, veterinarian, or agri-tech entrepreneur, Africa Agri Tech 2025 will equip you with the tools and knowledge to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving industry,”.Conference bookings now open at: www.africaagritech.co.za
