Accra, Ghana – October 6, 2025 – The Government of Ghana has confirmed the deployment of 5,000 agriculture and veterinary science graduates nationwide to strengthen its flagship Feed Ghana Programme. Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang made the announcement at the Asogli Yam Festival, describing the initiative as a turning point for modernizing Ghana’s agriculture.
The graduates will work directly with farmers to translate research into practice, introduce climate-smart techniques, and improve yields. The programme also aims to reduce post-harvest losses, which currently account for up to 30% of food waste in Ghana.
Complementary projects include the Vegetable Development Project, which promotes greenhouse farming, and the Nkokɔ Nkititi poultry programme, designed to boost domestic poultry production. The government is also expanding irrigation infrastructure and offering credit facilities to encourage youth participation in agribusiness.
