The All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has pledged to intensify efforts toward strengthening food production and security across the country, reaffirming its role as a unifying voice for Nigerian farmers.
Speaking at his inauguration during the 2025 National Agricultural Showground along the Abuja–Keffi Road in Nasarawa State, newly elected AFAN President Muhammad Magaji underscored the association’s commitment to building collaborative platforms that drive innovation and deliver tangible outcomes for Nigeria’s agricultural advancement.
Magaji commended the determination of President Bola Tinubu’s administration in repositioning agriculture as a cornerstone of national development. He urged farmers nationwide to rally behind government initiatives, stressing that a unified umbrella body was essential to maximize impact.
New Leadership, Renewed Mandate
Magaji’s emergence followed the election of a 27-member National Executive Council (NEC) at AFAN’s congress, in line with resolutions passed by the General Assembly of Farmers. The immediate past president, Kabiru Ibrahim, expressed confidence in the new leadership, noting that the association faced significant challenges but was well-positioned to deliver results.
Youth at the Center of Agricultural Transformation
The newly appointed National Youth Leader, Chief Tunde Adeyemi, emphasized the pivotal role of young farmers in powering Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Adeyemi pledged to expand training opportunities, improve access to finance, and promote modern tools such as mechanisation, drones, irrigation systems, and digital agriculture. He also highlighted plans to establish youth structures across all states and local governments, ensuring stronger representation and voice for young farmers.
