Morocco is accelerating the adoption of agricultural technology to enhance productivity and address mounting water scarcity challenges.

Government-backed initiatives are promoting precision irrigation systems, greenhouse farming and climate-resilient crop varieties, particularly in high-value horticulture such as tomatoes, citrus and berries. These export-oriented segments play a crucial role in Morocco’s agricultural revenue base.

Water efficiency has become a priority as prolonged drought conditions place pressure on reservoirs and groundwater supplies. Precision irrigation technologies, including drip systems and digital moisture monitoring, are helping farmers optimise water usage while maintaining yields.

Authorities are also supporting agribusiness innovation hubs to encourage digital tools in farm management, traceability and logistics coordination. Strengthening cold-chain infrastructure is another focus area aimed at reducing post-harvest losses and preserving export quality.
