Nigeria is intensifying efforts to improve agricultural productivity as the government implements reforms aimed at strengthening food security, expanding value-added exports and improving the efficiency of agricultural spending.

Despite easing headline inflation, rising food prices continue to place pressure on households, reinforcing the need to increase domestic food production and strengthen agricultural value chains. The government is responding by promoting investments that support higher crop yields, improved processing capacity and better market access for farmers.

Nigeria is also expanding international cooperation through partnerships with countries such as Morocco and France, focusing on technology transfer, agricultural innovation and the development of resilient food systems. These collaborations are expected to improve farming practices, strengthen agribusiness investment and support long-term food security.

The country’s processed agricultural exports have also shown encouraging growth, highlighting increasing demand for value-added products rather than raw agricultural commodities. This aligns with Nigeria’s broader strategy of creating more jobs, increasing export earnings and improving competitiveness within regional and international markets.

As investments continue across the agricultural sector, Nigeria is positioning itself to become a leading agribusiness hub in Africa while supporting sustainable production, rural development and economic diversification.
