Nigeria’s Water Resources Ministry Disowns Viral Agricultural Intervention Documents

Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation has disowned documents circulating online about a proposed 100,000-hectare Multi-Crop Project, warning that the materials are unauthorised and misleading.
In a public disclaimer issued through the Office of the Permanent Secretary, the ministry said the documents did not originate from the ministry and should not be treated as official information.
The disputed materials reportedly include a contractor registration form for agricultural input suppliers, an infographic outlining implementation and field operations, and a map linking river basin development authorities to the multi-crop project.
The ministry urged farmers, agricultural input suppliers, stakeholders and development partners to disregard the documents and avoid using them for official purposes.
It stressed that information about its programmes and activities is communicated only through established official channels and duly signed documents.
The ministry also warned that the circulation of false documents could violate Nigerian law, adding that appropriate legal action would be taken against individuals found responsible. It advised anyone seeking clarification to contact the ministry through its official communication platforms.
