MyEasyFarm and global sustainability firm Anthesis Group have teamed up to strengthen and scale , a pioneering carbon farming initiative that supports regenerative agriculture in South Africa.
AgriCarbon — Anthesis’s flagship carbon farming programme — helps farmers adopt climate-smart land management practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve soil health, and generate verified carbon credits. Since its launch in 2021, the programme has issued over 39,000 tonnes of carbon credits through regenerative practices adopted on more than 17,500 hectares of farmland, backed by extensive data collection.
The partnership brings MyEasyFarm’s digital expertise into the fold. Through its MyEasyCarbon platform, the company will support AgriCarbon by improving how farmers record and manage agricultural practice changes, making compliance with Verra’s rigorous VM0042 Agricultural Land Management methodology more efficient and reliable. This digital transformation aims to enhance data accuracy, streamline monitoring, and accelerate farmer participation in carbon markets.
AgriCarbon holds a notable position in the carbon farming landscape: it’s the first project in Africa — and only the second globally — to be certified under the Verra VM0042 standard, known for its stringent requirements for measurement, reporting and verification. Robust digital tools like MyEasyCarbon are expected to unlock measurable climate and economic benefits for participating farmers and contribute to broader adoption of regenerative agriculture.
“AgriCarbon is our flagship carbon farming programme,” said Franz Rentel, Managing Director of Anthesis South Africa. “Achieving its full potential requires both advanced digital tools and deep sustainability expertise. This collaboration unlocks significant environmental and economic value for South Africa’s agricultural sector.”
With the addition of MyEasyFarm, the AgriCarbon programme is poised for growth, expanding digital support for farmers and strengthening the integrity of high-quality carbon credit generation across the region.
