Ukraine has launched its first agricultural hub in Ghana, marking a significant step in expanding its global food security initiatives while strengthening trade ties across West Africa. The facility will serve as a processing and distribution centre for agricultural products, supporting both humanitarian efforts and commercial activity.

The hub is designed to integrate Ukrainian agricultural exports into regional supply chains while also contributing to local food production. By establishing operations within Ghana, Ukraine aims to improve food availability, enhance processing capacity, and share agricultural expertise to boost yields and food safety standards in the region.

This initiative forms part of the broader “Food from Ukraine” programme, which builds on earlier efforts under the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative launched in 2022. The programme has evolved from supplying raw commodities to delivering value-added products such as flour and pasta, tailored for markets in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

At the launch, thousands of food packages were distributed to vulnerable communities, highlighting the humanitarian component of the project. Future phases will focus on expanding local processing capabilities, including packaging and portioning of Ukrainian agricultural goods within Ghana, further strengthening the country’s role as a regional food hub.
